The Tyler’s Tribe Foundation

Our Mission

The Tyler’s Tribe Foundation was founded by Meghan Decker after her brother Tyler was diagnosed with ALS at just 26 years old. Our Mission is to raise funding and awareness for the cure for ALS and to help ALS patients and their families with the astronomical costs of living with this disease. Our ultimate goal is to find the cure for ALS.

Our goal is to raise funds for treatments and trials that would expand access for all ALS patients. ALS is relentless and we understand the urgency and importance of this firsthand. Join us as we fight to change this disease from terminal to treatable as we #WipeOutALS!

Meet Our Team

Meghan Decker

Founder | CEO | President

Meghan grew up in Carlsbad, CA. She is currently an account manager at a large insurance firm. Meghan has been involved with Tyler’s Tribe since the beginning, Tyler is her brother. We asked Meghan what it meant to her to be on this team and here is her response: “I honestly have to pinch myself that we have become a non-profit organization. It was a lot of work but I am so grateful we were able to start something that will help fund research for a cure and assist families with the astronomical cost of living with this disease. Watching this disease progress has been horrible, and I only hope that this foundation will help ease the pain of another ALS family’s journey as our friends and family have helped us so much along the way. We will #WipeOutALS”

Michael Decker

Vice President

Michael grew up in Carlsbad, CA. He is currently in CRE Development and Management in El Segundo, CA. Michael has been involved with Tyler’s Tribe since the beginning, he is Tyler’s brother. We asked Michael what it meant to him to be on this team and here is his response: “Being on the Tyler’s Tribe board is more than a title, it’s a call to arms. This board is composed of incredible people taking time out of their busy lives to help fund a cure for this horrible disease. ALS is unrelenting and does not take a day off, nor do we. With no cure, each diagnosis is terminal and in today’s age of medical research, this is unacceptable. Join us in our battle to #WipeOutALS”

Marissa Norys

Vice President of Events and Fundraising

Marissa was born and raised in Southern California, she grew up in Alta Loma and moved an hour south after college to live in Newport Beach. She currently works for Loyola Marymount University, serving as Director of Regional Development. She is responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects. Additionally, she focuses on alumni engagement in the southwest region and work to integrate community impact in an effort to foster relationships and create long standing alumni resources.

  • In 2015 she was introduced to several Sigma Chi’s by way of her best friend. One of the guys was Michael Decker, a surfer from Carlsbad that she would see on the weekends. Michael and Marissa grew to become great friends – celebrating birthdays and holidays over the years and cherishing the memories with our friends that would turn into family.

In 2020 when we received the news about Tyler - Marissa remembers being so shocked when she found out. The Decker family was and is, the definition of love and sacrifice. She couldn’t understand how something so awful could happen to such a wonderful family. Marissa realized what the family needed most was support so she decided to use her skills and resources to support their philanthropic efforts. Her first event was assisting in the annual golf tournament. Through that, she got even closer to the Decker’s and knew that she could use her background of non-profit development to support their efforts and grow the foundation further. We asked Marissa what it meant to her to be on this team and here is her response: “Being on the Tyler’s Tribe board is something I cherish deeply and will continue to pursue until there are medical wins that prevent this disease from affecting so many. It is an honor to be able to channel my career skills into impacting the world of ALS philanthropy”
